I'm a bit confused. How are the puzzles supposed to work ? How many moves before the color "wins" ? I can keep laying down tiles till the cows come home, but that doesn't really "solve" the puzzle. Am I supposed to alternate white and black moves, or just keep laying tiles to one colors advantage ?

chess has puzzles like this too.... white to play and mate...

so if the puzzle says white to play and win, it is whites turn.. then black will move , but no matter what black does, white can still force a win.... if white can't force a win for every possible black play, then you havent solved the puzzle..

without solving any puzzle i give you an example :)

if you look at

http://www.traxgame.com/about.php

there is an animation called suckers opening...

a puzzle could have looked like the board after the first 3 moves... and said black to win.. the fourth move is an attack..
whatever the move for white, black can keep attacking and eventually win.. (although it is 6 moves for black before black wins)

That makes it a bit clearer.
It would be nice though to know how many moves, just as in chess, the puzzle usually says "White mates in 3". Just a thought.

Hi,
I have published a free book with 50 puzzled including the solutions to the puzzles.
All puzzles in my book says something like "white to move and win in 3 moves".

You can download for free the book in pdf format at http://gnutrax.com/book/
