New Viewer in Firefox

Browser: Firefox 0.8 (Linux)

The in the new pbem game viewer the tiles don't fit together so there are annoying gaps around the pieces.

I also liked the move summary on the old version...
And the list of moves you could cut and paste..
And the download game link..
And the last move date...

So basically make it just like the old one..
(which fortunately still works, or I'd be complaining more ;) )

Hmm, That's interesting. I'm using the same display code for the actual viewer (just copied and pasted it).

Yes, I have discovered that I am missing the old summary too - will add it in again before too long.

As for the other features - the download game link - just click on the 'client' button. I will replace the last move date - it is useful to know.

You can now send email moves and comments directly from the web viewer if it is your turn to play (and you are logged in). BTW - I don't plan on removing the old viewer in a hurry :-)

Thanks for the feedback!

I have identified a similar problem with the Mozilla browser - with gaps between rows of tiles.

It seems to appear when the XHTML 1.0 STRICT document type is present. I found a few aspects of the page that were not XHTML 1.0 STRICT, but removing those on a trial page made no difference - it appears to be a browser bug.

Removing the XHTML STRICT label at the top causes the problem to go away so the browser, so it is something in the way Mozilla is rendering a table of images.

I have downgraded the DTD to XHTML 1.0 TRANSITIONAL to get the game to appear correct.

I found this on my travels:

This has to do with the display properties of images in the Gecko and KHTML rendering engines. Images are default ``[=display: inline]'', meaning that they sit on the text baseline with a little space above and below like normal text. If you set use CSS to specify:

img { display: block; }

then the spaces should disappear.

Thanks. Changed, and switched back to STRICT DTD.
