2000: World Championship

Challenge Match

The 3 zone system was again used to select the qualifying players for the Candidate's Tournament. The winning candidate was Dan Pless, of the USA. The Challenge Match games took place over the internet during the first three weekends in November, with the players and spectators connecting via the MSN Gaming Zone.

Donald Bailey won the match 6-4 to retain the World Championship title for another year.
