Challenge Match
Because of the effort involved in organising these tournaments, they were moved from an annual tournament to a 2 year cycle. Andrew Butterfield won the Candidate's Tournament, so it was a rematch of the previous match between Andrew and Donald. The games were played over the table in The Science Centre, Palmerston North, New Zealand.
Donald Bailey won the match 6-4 to retain his title.
